Publication ethics

Journal of Medical Physiology conforms to the international regulations against scientific misconduct including fabrication, falsification, plagiarism, etc. The journal is an official member of Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) since 2015 and any cases of suspected misconduct will be assessed during the peer-review and publication process based on COPE guidelines.

Plagiarism Policy

When an author tries to present the work of someone else as his or her own, it is called plagiarism. In addition, when an author uses a considerable portion of his or her own previously published work in a new one without properly citing the reference, it is called a duplicate publication sometimes also referred to as self-plagiarism. This may range from publishing the same article in another journal to 'salami-slicing', which is adding little new data to the previous article.

If suspected plagiarism is found in an article after publication, Journal of Medical Physiology will start an investigation. If plagiarism is confirmed, the journal will contact institutes and funding agencies of the author(s). If misconduct is proved, the journal will issue a statement linked both to and from the original paper to announce the plagiarism and provides a reference to the plagiarized material. Based on the extent of plagiarism present in the paper, either it will be retracted officially or each page of the PDF will be marked to clearly indicate presence of plagiarism.
